Real estate agent Malcolm Merriman is on a mission to help as many people as possible achieve homeownership. That’s because he knows that a home is not just a place to build memories but also a way to increase one’s wealth and standard of living.
Los Angeles-born and San Francisco-raised, Malcolm earned a B.S. in Business Management from California State University, Sacramento. After managing a restaurant for two years, he became a property adjuster with one of the top insurers in the U.S. While there, he specialized in flood and property damage claims. In the insurance profession, Malcolm picked up a hefty dose of building and construction expertise. Since 2000, when Malcolm entered the real estate business, his experience has run the gamut—from bank foreclosures and distressed properties to probate and short sales.
Malcolm has been interested in real estate since he was a kid, thanks to his father, a real estate broker. Helping his dad in the office and accompanying him to showings taught Malcolm a lot about the industry, and helped cement the strong bond they share to this day. The personal nature of Malcolm’s early real estate background has had a profound effect on how he conducts business. By assisting many friends, fellow church members, people he’s just met, and referrals, Malcolm stays in tune with his clients and the goals they’re trying to achieve. That connection enables him to blend decades of knowledge and experience with a great deal of compassion and empathy to get the results his clients want.
Malcolm maintains a well-rounded personal life as well, where he enjoys reading, traveling, working out, and cooking. He also frequently volunteers with his college fraternity and as a basketball coach, which he has done for many years.
